LOVE YOUR ISLAND, DON’T WASTE YOUR BOTTLE OR CAN!
CURAÇAO CLEAN UP FOUNDATION
In 2012, we proudly co-founded the Curacao Clean Up Foundation, best known for their its annual World Clean Up Day event. Over the course of eleven editions, we have succesfullyreceived tremendous support from approximately 29,500 dedicated volunteers. Together, we have successfully collected an incredible 3.7 million kilograms of litter, dumped waste and waste washed up on our shores. To put this into perspective, the amount waste from the start of the project until 2023 is equivalent to 89 Boeing 737 airplanes!
However, despite all our efforts, our ‘dushi’ island is not yet as clean as we aspire it to be. In collaboration with the Curaçao Clean Up Foundation, CBBC remains committed to achieving our shared goal: a cleaner island! Thanks to a generous donation from The Coca-Cola Foundation in Atlanta and the Curaçao Tourist Board, the Curaçao Clean Up has open its own Recycling Center in Brievengat, at the Bon Bini Supermarket and at Best Buy Supermarket. Additionally, CCU has co-sponsored the recycling center at Zeelandia, located at the Van den Tweel Supermarket. Currently, CCU is creating an E-learning program to educate and challenge teens to take positive action.

GREEN PHENIX PROMOTIONAL CAMPAIGN
MAKE THE TURTLE SMILE
To raise awareness about the importance of recycling empty cans and plastic bottles, CBBC teamed up with the recycling company Green Phenix, with the engaging campaign called ‘Make the Turtle Smile’. The concept was simple: for every 25 empty bottles or cans handed in to Green Phenix, participants received a stamp on their savings card. Once the card was complete, participants could choose from a range of attractive prizes. We are thrilled to announce that the campaign concluded with an impressive total of 33,280 empty bottles and cans collected within 3 months, making a significant contribution to our efforts to promote recycling and environmental awareness.
GREENTEENS
CBBC requested GreenKidz to create an educational program based on the principles Reduce, Reuse, Recycle & Refuse, to challenge teens to develop a sustainable lifestyle and encourage them to think about their own behavior. The material created for this modern, interactive curriculum, designed to match teens’ experiences and learning styles can be found here.
